Is a No Annual Fee Credit Card Always the Best Choice?

Today many banks and credit card companies offer no annual fee credit cards. Consumers can find no annual fee credit cards that give access to different benefits and services or reward with cash back, miles, and points.

However, no annual fee credit cards usually have a minimum set of benefits, services, and rewards. Another drawback is that the credit card issuers my charge fees for other services and benefits, like fees for making payments by phone or for redeeming rewards. Annual percentage rate (APR) is also a bit higher when a card has no annual fee. However, it is still possible to find a no annual fee credit card with 0% intro APR on purchases and balance transfers.

When you choose a no annual fee credit card, you should be attentive to other fees a credit card issuer may charge. Therefore, it is recommended to read the terms and conditions thoroughly before applying for a credit card.

Frequently Asked Questions:

I want a credit card that won’t charge an annual fee. I need it for emergency use only, can you advise?

There are no annual fee credit cards for any credit history. Look at the no annual fee credit cards we offer to find the card that suits your current credit history. Since it will be a credit card for emergency use only, we would not recommend you to apply for a credit card with rewards. Mostly because you won’t earn big rewards, and interest rate will be a bit higher. Another thing is, once you are approved, make sure you activate your card and show at least minimum activity on your account to keep it active.

Is it possible to get a no annual fee card when my credit is bad?

Yes. You can find a no annual fee credit card when you have bad credit history. You can choose a secured credit card or an unsecured credit card. Secured cards are rather easy to get because they require at least minimum security deposit to be paid before the card is issued. As for unsecured credit cards, they may not require upfront fees but they are difficult to qualify because there is no collateral that backs the issuer up. Weigh all the pros and cons before you apply for a credit card.

Are there credit cards that charge no annual fee and give cash back?

Yes, there are such cards and they are offered even to people with bad credit and no credit at all. Consumers with good credit may like Discover credit cards. Historically, Discover is known for issuing cash back rewards credit cards with no annual fee. So if you have good credit, you may like Discover credit card offers. Having lower credit, you can go to the no annual fee credit card section of this site. You will find credit card offers for any credit history there.

How do I know if the card has an annual fee and what APR I will have if apply?

First of all, here at CreditCardFlyers.com, you will find comprehensive descriptions of all credit cards. The cards’ details include fees, interest rates, and main benefits. If you need more details for a specific offer, you can click on the ‘apply’ button to get redirected to the card’s application page. You will find the card’s terms and conditions on that page.
