Kroger and US bank helps consumers earn freebies

By on

The Kroger Company and U.S. Bank will work in tandem to give its consumers a good deal by offering freebies on the credit cards offered by the bank. This would help consumers save money on fuel as well as groceries. For consumers who shop at any of the Kroger outlets, shopping would be a fine experience as they would be earning both fuel discounts as well as groceries. This is seen as a step forward to building a long-term alliance between the two.

Rewards are offered on Fred Meyer rewards ®, MasterCard ®, 1-2-3 Rewards ®, Ralph rewards plus, or Visa ® cards and they could be used at any of the Kroger outlets such as Fred Meyer, Ralphs, City Market, King Soopers, Fry’s, Dillons, and QFC.

Existing accounts of cardholders would be transferred to the U.S. Bank wherein Kroger customers would benefit from the customer service as well as mobile banking facility.

Cliff Cook, Chief Marketing Officer at U.S. Bank’s retail payment solution, was quoted as saying that this was a milestone and that the loyal customers at Kroger’s would benefit with each purchase they make.

Rewards points are earned every time the rewards cards are used to make purchases and rewards certificates could be redeemed for free groceries. It’s a triple benefit program with cardholders earning points for each and every dollar that is spent, and the points doubling for purchases made at Kroger’s family stores, the points would increase three-fold if purchases are the store-brand items. An additional discount of 5% per gallon could be availed by customers on purchase of fuel at fuel centers that are participating and the ones who are operated by Kroger.

Kroger also seems to be thrilled at the prospects of its loyal customers being able to earn these freebies. The commitment to serve its customers has been well understood by the U.S. Bank and the right products are on offer.

The relationship between Kroger, the largest traditional retailer in the U.S., and the U.S. Bank (financial service sector) began in the year 1930. The bank now provides a range of financial services such as corporate banking, retail banking, capital markets, trust, and credit card services for the Kroger Company. While Kroger is spread out at almost 2500 locations, it has been operating with different brand names; the U.S. Bank also operates in around 190 branches in some of these Kroger outlets. There is an in-store banking system by the U.S. Bank in these outlets which offer these reward programs to the Kroger customers.
