Need A Vacation? Open A Hotel And Travel Rewards Card

With the hustle and bustle of life, we sometimes forget to slow down and take a breather. Vacations can sometimes be as stressful as daily life. Sometimes more so due to the added expense they bring. Why not let a Hotel and Travel Rewards Card take some of that stress away by offering you free air miles and hotel stays?

Use your travel rewards to stay at a hotel, or ask your card issuer if they will transfer your hotel bonus points into frequent flier miles that can be used on over 30 major airline carriers.

How Hotel Rewards Work

The points you earn are good for the life of the credit card account. The amount of points each hotel will accept varies, so check with the hotel before booking. Plus, many card companies will double the initial bonus points you can earn just by you using the card. The initial bonus points offered can be as much as 15,000 points.

With the double rewards programs, it is often enough to stay overnight or to upgrade room accommodations, depending on the hotel. Also, most cards do not have a limit to the number of points you can earn in any period of time, and the points do not expire throughout the life of the account.

Some hotel rewards cards are offered by the hotels themselves. This means that each time you reserve and pay for accommodations at one of their hotels, you earn more bonuses.

There are several ways to earn rewards benefits:

  • You spend a designated amount of money in a certain time frame on the card and you earn the points.
  • Some cards offer points for every dollar spent on eligible purchases. Usually this is one point per dollar spent.
  • Another option offered by the hotels themselves when using their cards, is they reward you with bonus points the more nights you stay in one of their hotels when charging the bill to their credit card.

When choosing the card that is right for you, be sure to read the terms and conditions. Some card companies have no annual fee, while others waive the annual fee for the first year. Other cards offer a low introductory rate or 0% APR for a limited time. Many offer to transfer balances from other credit cards for a low introductory rate.

Rather than choosing the standard credit card offer, choose one that will pay for most or all of your next vacation and reap the rewards.
