Hyatt Credit Card Review - Exceptionally Rewarding

by on | Overall Rating: 4.6 / 5

The Hyatt Credit Card is a new card on the market that has been produced by credit card company Chase and world renowned hotel chain Hyatt. The card offers many of the standard perks that you would expect to see as well as some extra benefits to travelers and those who often stay at Hyatt hotels. There are also a number of initial incentives including a nice signup bonus (two nights for free in any Hyatt hotel) that many may find beneficial.

In order to determine whether the Hyatt Credit Card is going to be beneficial for you we have evaluated the card`s pros and cons to help you to make a more informed decision.

What We Love About the Hyatt Credit Card

Smart Chip Protection - The Smart Chip Protection technology incorporated into the Hyatt Credit Card protects against fraud and identity theft both at home and abroad.

Sign Up Bonus - Once you have made your first purchase with the Hyatt Credit Card you will be rewarded with a two night stay in any standard hotel room at the Hyatt Hotel. The cost of a night stay is generally around the $160 mark (some are even more than this) so this is clearly a nice sign up bonus, especially for those who travel regularly.

Ability to Earn Rewards Points - Every time you use the Hyatt Credit Card you will redeem what is known as Hyatt Gold Passport Points. You will earn 1 point per dollar spent anywhere and 3 points points per dollar spent at a Hyatt Hotel. These points can then be redeemed against Hyatt hotel rooms and suites.

0% Foreign Transaction Fees - If you use the Hyatt Credit Card abroad you will not be charged any foreign transaction fees at all. This is great news when you consider that most credit cards come with a standard 3% service charge.

Chip and Pin Enabled - Most US issued cards are not chip and pin enabled which makes it difficult to use them when travelling to certain locations, in Europe for example. The Hyatt Credit Card is however fully chip and pin enabled so using your card abroad will be a breeze.

Visa Signature Benefits - This is the highest form of visa card that you can obtain and so you can expect a lot of additional benefits to come included. These include things such as emergency cash and card replacement, travel emergency assistance, extended warranty coverage on all purchases, entertainment benefits and auto related benefits. Further information about Visa Signature Benefits can be found via the Chase website.

What`s Not So Great About the Hyatt Credit Card

The Annual Fee - The Hyatt Credit Card costs $75 per year to own. Whilst many people will see the annual fee as a small price to pay for so many perks it would have been nice to see no annual fee on the card. On the good side however, on the anniversary of you owning the card for a year you are granted a one night stay in any Hyatt Hotel this balances out the annual fee.

Need to Spend a Lot to Obtain Redeemable Points - Although the ability to earn rewards points on any transactions that you make is definitely a good thing, consumers do however need to spend quite a lot in order to trade them in for a room at a Hyatt hotel. The smallest room in a level 1 hotel equates to 5000 points ($5000).

Our Verdict

There have been a number of enticing credit cards released in the past few months however the Hyatt Credit Card is one of the best we have seen to date. The card is probably not the best choice for those who are looking for a general credit card however it is especially ideal for those who travel a lot and stay in Hyatt hotels. The perks and benefits offered are also great for infrequent travelers too. This may just be one of the best hotel credit cards that we have seen to date.
