Co-Branded Credit Cards

When it comes to choosing a credit card you in most cases can go with two options: a co-branded credit card and a regular credit card with rewards. Both types of credit cards will allow you to save on your shopping and can give some additional benefits like special financing.

The difference between these two types of credit cards is in freedom you get. For example, you have a co-branded credit card, let it be a Goodyear credit card. The card will allow you to finance the tires and services and pay for them over the time by making low monthly payments. There is no rewards program to earn bonus points or cash back. However, the card loaded with benefits like rebates during promotional periods, discounts on oil change, and free services exclusive to cardholders. The card can only be used at Goodyear locations.

Everything is different when you have a regular rewards credit card from a major bank. First of all, you will be able to use the card everywhere and you will earn points, miles or cash back on any purchase you make. Another good thing is a no interest introductory period. Depending on a card and credit card issuer in may be as long as 21 month. The introductory period is a one-time offer, but there is no minimum purchase requirement.

When you choose a credit card you should not look only on rewards or fees. There are much more factors to consider: the way you want to use the card, how often will you use it, will this card be for specific expenses, will it be MasterCard or Visa credit card, and many others. Don't pick a card with closed eyes. Do some math to see which option will work for you best.
